Revealing me 1

We all have a story, we all have unique ways of being that make us an individual. My counselling style has great benefits and one of those is the ability to discover and reveal or express who you really are. I am a firm believer that self-expression has so many health benefits. I would love everyone to discover and reveal themselves through self-expression for a healthier generation and generations to come.  Many people are scared to be vulnerable, but vulnerability is the key to self-discovery. So this is me being vulnerable and revealing to you my story and my 4 P’s.

My Story

When I was young I used to be bullied at school and I learnt quickly how to wear a mask and not be myself, I was and still am, a highly sensitive person. I struggled to build a harmonious relationship with my father and people with strong personalities. I found that they would try and convince me that I needed to be tougher and to stop crying which is actually my way and a completely acceptable way of expressing discomfort or joy! Now that I am older and wiser I can see that this was their way of protecting me and in a way showing me love, but this experience created who I am today and for that I am grateful.
I missed my mum’s daily presence, who used to work long hours and I was influenced by those around me so much so, that I couldn’t express my true self, I had a lack of self-confidence,  self-worth, I was insecure and searching for more affection. I’ve always been emotionally in tune and probably developed mentally and physically before all my peers. This did not help as at that time as I did not have the right emotional tools.

Skip a few years forward and I had completed my Master’s Degree and became a doctor in Clinical Pedagogy, I was satisfied that I now had a set of tools that I could use for my emotions. At this point I could see how my natural and acquired knowledge were a great combination to become the expert, I had always wanted to be…I regained my confidence and felt free!

I was doing the work of my dreams, I had everything I wanted! I was acknowledged, recognised and esteemed as a practitioner and as a caring, smiling and energetic person. I was surrounded by positive people…but deeply I knew that something was still missing. That void was filled when I found my husband who accepted the real Micaela, the sensitive, moody, expressive, charismatic, courageous and professional Micaela. Yes this is me!

My own journey continued when I moved to Australia 11 years ago.

I was excited about the move but I did not consider how hard it would be to learn another language, to connect with another culture, to start a new life. I did not consider that just “escaping” from one place to another and being excited for a new adventure does not always resolve everything! I still had some unresolved emotional ghosts with me and…that overwhelming life transition hit me!

Even with my own training and understanding of emotions, I developed a chronic disease in response to my inability to express myself verbally! With time, my husband’s support, the use of my emotional first aid tools and the willingness to evolve as a better and empowered person, I am in a good position and managing the disease. It’s now become my goal and purpose to lead the way in showing people how emotional first aid tools and self-expression can lead to better health both for your mind and for your body. I want to share these tools with men and women young and old.

Through this journey I have discovered my four P’s, Purpose, Principals, People and Peeves.

My Purpose

To provide a safe environment so people feel connected.

To be a mentor in their journey to discover a fully self-expressed life.

To use their own uniqueness and strengths to discover, learn and evolve.

To use expressive methods to reveal their true self.

… doing the job of my dreams.

My Principles

Self-belief, persistence, determination, courage, being natural, being honest, authenticity, good manners, acceptance of vulnerability, being adventurous, being responsible.

My People

  • Are feeling trapped, stuck and overwhelmed due to a hectic life.
  • Have lost a sense of self because of family demands, society or life transition.
  • Disconnected from their world,
  • If encouraged, they would be willing to re-open their mind and heart and trust
  • Are eager for change, and committed to a personal or professional evolution.
  • Are open to new adventure, willing to be honest and real

My Pet Peeves

“Perfect” counsellors who are stiff, structured, detached and unemotional. I find some counsellors have been trained to restrict their view. Who have fallen under the “scarcity” mentality, who hide behind a mask of perfection.

You won’t get that with me, I’m a really genuine and expressive Italian… Counselling doesn’t have to be boring!

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

So now you know about me, I want to be there for you. As part of that I offer a range of services to suit your needs. One on One counselling, skype sessions, an online counselling course called Reveal You and a free email service called Mind Mentor.

So please join me in making your life more richer, meaningful and expressive. Please share with me your 4 P’s and your story, I would love to hear them.

Kindest Wishes, Micaela
